As a child growing up in Howth, one was never far from the legend that was the late Senator Feargal Quinn and the Superquinn store that the Quinn Family created at Sutton Cross. A generous and charming businessman whose customer service ethos spread far beyond the shores of Ireland, Feargal has been an inspiration to at least three generations of people in the area. Patrick’s own son Kai still treasures the kind letter he received on headed Seanad Éireann notepaper written by Feargal to congratulate him for being chosen to speak on the radio about his primary class project.
It has been an honour to carry that flag in a small way thanks to an extremely generous donation from the Quinn Family Foundation. It comes as no surprise that they should wish to encourage the younger generation to keep the paths, beaches and parks of North County Dublin spick and span. Being a family of runners, sailors and sportspeople, they clearly understand the importance of a clean and pleasant environment.
Thank you, Mighty Quinns!
